Check Breathitt County VINELink

A VINELink Breathitt County custody check tracks one person after an arrest. It sends notice when that status changes. Kentucky VINE pulls from jail and state systems. It is not a live Breathitt County arrest roster, though. It can report a custody location. It can also send release or transfer alerts. A fresh arrest may take time to appear, and federal custody uses a different locator. Treat results as time-sensitive status information, and confirm with the holding facility when immediate accuracy matters.

Check a Breathitt Arrest

Start at VINELink. Search broadly enough to catch spelling differences, then use the result details to separate people with similar names. Note the source type and the time checked. A local-jail entry and a Kentucky DOC entry can show different stages for the same person, so keep both when two results appear.

  1. Open VINELink and select Kentucky.
  2. Choose the control labeled “Find an Offender” or its current equivalent.
  3. Enter a partial last name or an offender identifier. Add a first name only when the first search is too broad.
  4. Compare displayed identity details, facility, and status. Do not choose a record from a name match alone.
  5. Check whether the result is a local-jail record or a DOC record. If both appear, review both.
  6. Record the lookup time and call the facility when the answer is urgent.

The Kentucky DOC VINE FAQ advises searching by partial name or offender ID. It also says to register on both records. That applies when a local-jail and DOC record appear. A no-result screen means one thing. Nothing matched the terms used at that moment. Try a spelling variant or reduce the name, then use the official contact chain. The official search page is where it begins: open the VINELink search interface.

The VINELink search tool looks up one person at a time. It is not a Breathitt County booking list.

Breathitt Custody Result Fields

A Kentucky VINE result can help separate custody from the underlying arrest record. The Kentucky Attorney General says status information may include the custody location plus the facility's address and phone. Fields vary by source record. A result can change after release or transfer.

Result itemHow to read it
Name or identifierUse it to distinguish possible matches; confirm identity with more than a name.
Custody statusThe status VINE had when checked, not a permanent finding.
FacilityThe reported holding location, which may be outside Breathitt County.
Facility contactAn official phone or address to confirm a time-sensitive result.
Record sourceLocal jail or Kentucky DOC; two records may coexist during a transfer.

An arrest record serves a different purpose. It may list the arresting agency, arrest date, alleged charges, and narrative. VINE does not decide whether a charge is supported. It does not report the final court disposition, and the Breathitt Circuit Court Clerk holds the later case events.

Register for Kentucky Custody Alerts

After opening the correct record, select the status-change notification option. Kentucky DOC permits more than one phone number or email address. Phone registration requires a four-digit PIN. Use a number that accepts the automated call rather than a switchboard. Keep the PIN private. The person whose record is followed is not told who registered. That policy comes from Kentucky DOC.

  1. Confirm that the displayed person and record source are correct.
  2. Select “Notify Me of Status Changes” or the equivalent option.
  3. Choose a telephone or email channel and enter contact information directly in VINELink.
  4. Create the required four-digit PIN for telephone acknowledgment.
  5. Save the confirmation details privately. If both local and DOC records exist, register on each.

The VINELink registration path opens after a person and notification event are selected.

Use the registration screen on your own. Never share your phone number, email address, confirmation code, or PIN with anyone else.

Online access is not the only channel. The official Kentucky VINE telephone line is 1-800-511-1670, available at any time. The Kentucky Attorney General's VINE page says jail-release calls repeat about every 30 minutes. The cycle can run for up to 24 hours, or until acknowledged. For a state institution, notice may come early. It can arrive as much as 72 hours before release when possible. Those windows describe alert delivery, not how fast a new arrest first enters VINE.

Verify a Breathitt Arrest

VINE entries lag behind real events. A fresh booking may not appear right away. A person can be released or moved between checks. For the newest arrests, try the Breathitt County 24 Hour Arrests page first. Then call whichever office might hold the record.

Sheriff John Hollan and Jailer Joel Gross appear on the Breathitt Fiscal Court officials page. The address is 1137 Main Street in Jackson. The main line is (606) 666-3800, with extensions 229 and 242. An older county page listed extension 230 for the sheriff. Call ahead to confirm which extension still works.

Kentucky River Regional Jail sits at 200 Justice Drive, Hazard, KY 41701. That address comes from a government facility document. Its phone is 606-436-0622. Ask the facility whether the named person is in custody there. Also ask which office keeps the booking record. Recent Kentucky State Police Breathitt case reporting backs up the KRRJ transport route. Keep two cautions in mind. A failed VINE search does not mean nobody was arrested in Breathitt County.

Federal custody sits outside Kentucky VINE's state and local scope. For a sentenced federal prisoner, use the Federal Bureau of Prisons inmate locator. ICE runs its own detainee locator. Federal pretrial records often stay off public systems. None of these routes offer a Breathitt booking-photo feed.

Verify urgent information. VINELink says not to rely solely on automated notification. Call the reported facility or local official when safety or immediate release status matters.

Alerts Are Not Arrest Records

Breathitt County keeps arrest records in several drawers. Jackson Police, the sheriff, or KSP writes the incident report or citation. KRRJ holds the intake record. VINE reports custody changes. The Breathitt court keeps the case file, and KOOL may later show someone sentenced or supervised. The Breathitt County recent-arrests hub sorts out those record types. No single system carries every field, so expect gaps. An alert tells you about release or transfer. Ask the arresting agency for its own report. Request a booking photograph from the custodian when one exists and is releasable. Turn to the court for bond, plea, or sentence updates. That split matters here, since a Breathitt County adult can be jailed outside county lines. The Kentucky DOC's own VINE explanation appears on the state deployment page.

Kentucky Department of Corrections VINE information page

The state page spells out VINE's custody-alert role. Trust it over unofficial jail directories.

Note: Confirm the source type and lookup time before acting on any Breathitt County custody result or alert.

When Breathitt VINELink Finds Nothing

A blank result can mean several things. The spelling may differ, or intake data may not have reached VINE yet. The person may have been released or transferred. Sometimes the event simply never led to adult jail custody. Search again with less of the name. Check for a second record elsewhere. A person can sit in more than one system. Then call the Breathitt sheriff or jailer, or KRRJ, with the full name and a rough arrest date.

Questions about the arrest itself go to the arresting agency. Jackson Police keeps its own agency records. KSP offers an official records-request route for records it created. Identify the person, the date range, the agency, and the exact item you want. An incident report or citation is one example. Ask KRRJ or the named custodian separately for an intake record. Breathitt County publishes no fee schedule and promises no local production time.

Court results live elsewhere. Use the Breathitt Court of Justice contact for a hearing, dismissal, plea, or sentence. The clerk's file holds details VINE cannot supply. Older records may need a clerk-assisted search. Keep each date separate. An arrest date, a booking time, an alert time, and a court outcome date never run on one clock. Confirm identity carefully, and guard your alert registration details rather than sharing them where they could put someone at risk.
